Celebrate!

If your name is Michael--and if you are bothering to read this it likely is--HAPPY NAMESDAY! Today is the feast day of St. Michael, our namesake. In Catholic cultures, the namesday (which does not always correspond with the saint's feast-day) a is celebrated with the same importance as the birthday.

Since your family and friends are unaware, and probably aren't throwing you a surprise namesday party, you'll have to take charge and do something special for yourself--YOU ARE WORTH IT; you are a Mike. Treat yourself to a nice dinner, or splurge on a gift...something you wouldn't ordinarily buy for yourself. Me? I am going to The Who concert tonight in Detroit. While there are, unfortunately, no Mikes performing with the band, other Mikes are attending the concert, and we will all be celebrating together.

Name Wizard

I'll bet all of you on the Mike Committee have at one time or another pondered, "How popular is my name? How has that popularity changed over time?"
Wonder no more. Check out the Name Wizard. Type in any name and chart its popularity by the decades. Of course, you will first be typing in MICHAEL or MICHELLE. Try MICH--it gauges the name Michelle with Michael.
If you don't want to look at names, just look at the pretty colors.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Web World of the Mike Committee, which I invited myself into after Mike P. told me about the secret alliance he formed with Mikes H and H in and near the mailroom on September 25.

I think the reason for this blog is obvious to those Mikes who know me best--It is 12:34 am. I have been grading papers since 4:30 pm. I have three left, which I can't bear to read, since I have this blog that you wanted me to work on so that we can further our mission of world domination.
